Juletrefest - January 7th

On Saturday afternoon, January 7th children and parents gathered for one more traditional Christmas celebration. The Christmas Tree Party (Juletrefest).

We ate a large and delicious variety of breads, cakes, brownies, hot cocoa, Christmas punch and soda.
We also feasted on hot dogs. After the food came the games and finally we all sang songs as we danced around the Juletre.

Two ring ring rings moving in opposite directions as we sing sing sing to paraphrase the Julenissen song.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the jolly bearded Christmas Elf appeared with a sack full of goodies for all of good little girls and boys. After dancing with the kids for just a few steps he sat down and greeted each one with a present.

He is a right handsome old elf, what? Wired for sound too. This is a high tech country you know.

Without bringing a single child to tears he worked the room, posed for a few pictures, and then disappeared until next year.

I think that Christmas is over but trees, lights and other decorations are still up. Now we are in the depths of winter as we wait for the sun to rise just a bit higher each day. Everybody is back to work and the crowds at the mall are a more reasonable size.
